Privacy Policy

Local Eruption (“we,” “us”) publishes a local events calendar for Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson, and N Klamath counties in Central Oregon. This policy explains what information we collect when you use localeruption.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Newsletter signup. If you sign up for our weekly email, we collect your email address and the region you signed up for. We use this only to send the newsletter and related updates about the Site.

Venue and business contacts. If you're a venue owner or organizer, we may keep a record of your business name, contact email, and outreach status (e.g. whether we've reached out about listing your events) so we can coordinate with you.

Automatically collected data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) logs standard technical information — things like IP address, browser type, and pages visited — for security and reliability purposes. We don't currently run separate analytics or advertising tracking scripts of our own.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (health, financial, government ID numbers, etc.) from visitors, and we don't ask for it.

• To send the newsletter to people who sign up for it, and let them unsubscribe.
• To contact venues and organizers about listing their events.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
• To respond to questions sent to us directly.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

The Site relies on a few outside services to work, each of which has its own privacy practices:

• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery for the Site.
• Google Places — used to help source and verify venue information shown on the Site.
• Instagram — some event listings embed a venue's public Instagram post directly (via Instagram's own embed widget). When that embed loads, Instagram/Meta may collect data according to their own privacy policy, independent of this one.
• Advertisers. Sponsored listings on the Site link to and display images from the advertiser's own website. Clicking an ad takes you to a site we don't control, governed by that site's own privacy policy.

The Site does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes — for example, if we add site analytics or a more sophisticated ad system — we'll update this policy to reflect it.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send, or by emailing us (below). If you're a venue contact and want your information removed or corrected, email us and we'll take care of it.

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this policy as the Site changes. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
